Please tell me this isn’t so. I love that old bridge, which so reflects the character of Red Wing. What are the opinions of locals? Modernizing the bridge changes the whole feel of the city. Why isn’t this bridge on the National Register of Historic Places like a similar bridge in St. Peter?
I didn’t make it to any of the planning and other public meetings. I do agree that this will dramatically change the whole feel of the city; I prefer the old style as well. This project is badly needed though and will address some terrible intersections just off either side of the bridge. I am disappointing that there are not observation decks on both sides of the bridge.
