01.20.14 (2) – Snow Boulders

Snow Boulders.  If only gravity had taken them further, snow boulder they might be.

01.20.14 – Groom

Groom.  Not the wedding variety.  While out driving around I spotted a groomer making the snowmobile trails nice and  smooth after a fresh snow fall.

Saturday Morning Stuck

Cyndie & I heard from the couple we were meeting with Saturday (in preparation for their wedding photography) that there was a semi in the ditch/median just North of us.  We headed that way as we traveled back home having taken a completely different route to the church earlier.  Sure enough, an hour and half later, the wrecker was just getting the semi with doubles back on solid pavement.  The snowfall we received last night produced some challenging road conditions in the early a.m.  The plows were out and cleared the snow quickly; as you can see the roads were about clear as of  11:30 a.m. or so.  Not soon enough for this semi driver though.  It didn’t look like anyone was hurt thankfully.

Naked.  This isolated Oak tree is quite beautiful standing all on its own in the middle of a field.

01.17.14 – Two Trumpets

Two Trumpets.  I was traveling for work the other day.  On the way home I happened to catch these two swans flying out of the corner of my eye.  I followed them for a good bit until I found a road that turned to cross their path.  The rest was simple – hurry up and wait.  It wasn’t long.

Refined.  Shot from the hip (shoulder) @ 75 mph out my passenger window.  It is a technique I have worked on for a year or so 🙂

Snowy MN Morning

It is mornings like this that I really do not look forward to getting up even earlier to shovel snow and spend two hours driving into St. Paul.  Thankfully the snowplows were out in full force trying to keep up with the accumulation.  Every time it snows I think of what a hard job it must be and the long hours.  I really appreciate their work…until it lands at the end of my driveway.  That part of their job I am not so enamored with.

01.12.14 – Solar Mannequin

Here is something you don’t see everyday.  A mannequin standing out in the yard with a solar charger strapped to its waste to power a rope light that runs through the yard.  There were two mannequins total.  I need one!

01.11.14 – A Frosty Morning

A frost morning [and entire day].  A very cloudy day shielded the sun from ridding the needle and branches from their cold and clingy companion.  I spied this scene as we were returning from a trip to Princeton, MN.  A lovely evergreen tree line leading up to a small family farm.
