The Ring of Kerry<\/h1>\n

The Ring of Kerry<\/b> is a 179-km-long circular tourist route in County Kerry, south-western Ireland. Clockwise from Killarney it follows the N71 to Kenmare, then the N70 around the Iveragh Peninsula to Killorglin \u2013 passing through Sneem, Waterville, Cahersiveen, and Glenbeigh \u2013 before returning to Killarney via the N72. – read more (wikipedia)<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Iveraph Peninsula<\/h2>\n

The Iveraph Peninsula is a very \"The<\/a>popular destination. \u00a0The Ring of Kerry<\/a> is one of the most beloved\u00a0areas to visit in the Republic of Ireland. \u00a0I highly recommend straying from the prescribed route a wee bit. \u00a0 We did not stray and we missed Kerry Cliffs<\/a>, Foilhommerum Bay<\/a> and Balycarbery Castle<\/a>\u00a0on the tip of the peninsula.<\/p>\n

The Kerry Way<\/h2>\n

The peninsula is also home to The Kerry Way. \u00a0The Kerry Way<\/a> is a walkers’ version of the Ring of Kerry. \u00a0It is a 113 mile long \"The<\/a>circular hiking train the begins and ends in Killarney. \u00a0It typically takes 9 days to complete. \u00a0What an adventure that has to\u00a0be. \u00a0As you can see on the map below, there are B&B’s all along the way. \u00a0You can make arrangements to have your luggage delivered to specific B&B’s at scheduled times so you need only carry day packs while walking. \u00a0[link to interactive map<\/a>]<\/p>\n

Traveling the ring<\/h2>\n

We visited The Ring of Kerry in April well\u00a0ahead\u00a0of the peak tourist season. \u00a0There was still plenty of traffic; I can only imagine how crazy it gets during the peak summer months. \u00a0There is no debating it’s beauty and no wonder about why it is such a popular place. \u00a0This was the most “touristy” area we traveled through in Ireland. \u00a0Our goal was to avoid big cities and touristy areas. \u00a0We made an exception\u00a0for this area. \u00a0If you are in the area, you must take the time and at least drive the loop. \u00a0The sites to stop at are many and the views grand. \u00a0The map below illustrates the locations of the photos that follow.<\/p>\n
