This past Wednesday morning I captured a few 180 degree panoramas of the Autumn sunrise in Red Wing, MN along the Mississippi River. With all the rain, the river is on the rise once again. The Mississippi has been high most since the Spring run-off; through the Summer and now into Autumn.

Return to Fort Snelling State Park…more
Fort Snelling State Park
I neglected to post the sunrise shot from my visit to Fort Snelling State Park yesterday. This particular landing on Snelling Lake doesn’t afford a direct line to sunrise at this time of year. It does offer a view of the Hwy 55 Mendota Bridge along with reflections from its lights; with some clouds in the sky, it is a rather picturesque view.
I also skipped over posting photos from the previous day when I scouted out Pike Island. I arrived at noon and the park was pretty quiet. I met one photographer returning to the parking lot as I headed out. He said he photographed a few bucks. That’s all I needed to hear. I found one buck out on Pike Island along with a doe and a several turkeys. All good signs that the trip tomorrow morning would no doubt be action-packed; it was. Here are some photos from the 2 hours I spent on Pike Island on Friday afternoon.

Autumn Spectacle
I love this time of year. The Autumn Spectacle that is the vibrant and radiant yellows, oranges and reds is almost past. The majority of Minnesota and Wisconsin is at or even past peak color. In my neck of the woods the color is holding fast. I have not had the time to go out and explore the color in my surrounding area. Cooler temps and winds will soon be here, but for now, I will enjoy it. I wish Autumn were 3-4 months in length. Winter could certainly be shorter as far as I am concerned.
I have managed to snap a few frames while traveling from here to there and back; here they are.
