01.16.14 – Refined

Refined.  Shot from the hip (shoulder) @ 75 mph out my passenger window.  It is a technique I have worked on for a year or so 🙂

    1. 🙂 It is all about timing, opportunity, camera settings and a titch of luck.

  1. Last summer, we travelled from SC to MI, and I took pictures out the window at 70 mph the whole way. Most of them turned out really well, I was surprised.

    1. You encounter lots of interesting things along the way to and from places. My one camera has become and extension of my right arm/hand and it goes everywhere with me. Camera settings can easily be adjusted to achieve the look your are going for – stop action or motion blur or even something in between.

    1. Thanks! There is some grit @ ISO 1600, but it was necessary to keep it somewhat crisp.

      1. I remember the day I cringed when I had to bump-up my ISO past 500 🙂 These days, I can shoot at evening/night and feel pretty good. A little grit works well on some shots…industrial/night and mood shots.

        1. For sure. With a full-frame sensor, ISO 6400 is a breeze with only a titch of grit. A crop sensor, a bit more grit. I agree, it does add a certain artistic element. I would also error on getting the shot with some grit than not getting it at all.
