MN North Shore<\/h1>\n

Grand Marais to Grand Portage<\/h2>\n

Ahhhh beautiful Grand Marais, MN. \u00a0This (and points North) is my favorite area of the MN North Shore. \u00a0We got off the beaten path and explored a few forest roads on our way to Judge CR Magney State Park<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0The wild flowers were incredible as were the butterflies. \u00a0One of the forest road dead-ended out in the middle of nowhere. \u00a0That wasn’t terribly convenient and it forced us to backtrack back to where we started.\u00a0 It could have been worse; we could be at work.<\/p>\n

We spent a fair amount of time at\u00a0Judge CR Magney State Park<\/a>\u00a0and generally took it a bit easier than we had in the last two days.\u00a0 That pace we initially set was\u00a0pretty aggressive pace initially and we were both starting to slow down some. \u00a0We arrived in Grand Portage in the early afternoon.<\/p>\n

Lodging<\/h2>\n

Cabin lodging in these parts of the MN North Shore typically insist on a 2-night say minimum.\u00a0 We had hoped to stay at Hollow Rock Resort<\/a> so we could just wake up at sunrise and walk out right onto the shore for sunrise, but the two-day stay stamped that plan out. \u00a0The Grand Portage Lodge & Casino<\/a> is a suitable solution to your one night stay needs. \u00a0Hollow Rock Resort<\/a> is part of the casino and there wasn’t an issue gaining access to do a sunrise shoot there.<\/p>\n

We checked in and then explored the surrounding area some as a late afternoon thunderstorm rolled on through. \u00a0An early dinner at the Casino and some much-needed shuteye seem like the perfect end of another full day of traveling the North Shore.<\/p>\n
