Double, double toil and trouble;\u00a0water freezing, and corn syrup bubbles. \u00a0Not exactly a\u00a0Shakespearean moment…<\/p>\n

I happened upon some remarkable images of bubbles, frozen and held intact. \u00a0They where quite beautiful with great detail in wonderful light. \u00a0<<read\/see more<\/a>>><\/p>\n

I thought to myself, “how hard can this be.” \u00a0I searched for a <\/span>bubble solution recipe<\/a>, acquired my supplies and readied my mix. \u00a06 cups water to 1 cup dish soap to 1\/4 cup corn syrup. \u00a0I equated this to 7:1\/4 or 3.5:1\/8 as I had bubble solution from the store and wasn’t going to mix completely from scratch. \u00a0This is where I may have went wrong right from the start. I needed bubble-blowing implements and they naturally come in the store-bought solutions. \u00a0I didn’t feel any need to dump that and start from scratch. \u00a0After an initial failure, I began to dabble. \u00a0I steadily and generously continued to add corn syrup until the bubbles held and froze. \u00a0I ended up at 3 1\/2:1 1\/2 ratio of bubble solution to corn syrup. \u00a0The other issue I encountered was wind on the deck; that just doesn’t work. \u00a0I move my operation into the garage and blew my bubble on to\u00a0an old card table. \u00a0The whole exercise was not a complete fail. \u00a0I succeeded in making a few frozen bubble. I certainly succeeded in make a mess. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The bubbles didn’t freeze fast enough with the garage door closed. \u00a0The freeze time greatly improved with the door open, but the wind popped a lot. \u00a0I’ll have to give this another whirl tomorrow perhaps when it will be even colder and I may not need the garage door open. \u00a0We’ll see.<\/span><\/p>\n

I think I have the solution mix down and just need to practice in creating and placing the bubbles. \u00a0Here are my prize shots of the afternoon.<\/p>\n
