MINNEOPA FALLS<\/h1>\n

Minneopa State Park\u00a0is a\u00a0state park\u00a0in the\u00a0U.S. state\u00a0of\u00a0Minnesota. It was established in 1905 to preserve\u00a0Minneopa Falls, a large waterfall for southern Minnesota, and was expanded in the 1960s to include the lower reaches of Minneopa Creek and a large tract of prairie. \u00a0Minneopa is Minnesota’s third oldest state park, after\u00a0Itasca\u00a0and\u00a0Interstate. Two park resources are listed on the\u00a0National Register of Historic Places: the 1862\u00a0Seppman Mill\u00a0and a district of seven\u00a0Rustic Style\u00a0structures built by the\u00a0Works Progress Administration\u00a0in the late 1930s. The park is located almost entirely on the south side of the\u00a0Minnesota River, 3 miles\u00a0 west of Mankato. In 2015 the state reintroduced\u00a0American bison to the park in a 330-acre (130 ha) fenced enclosure, through which visitors can drive in their vehicles. ~wikipedia<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It has taken quite a while to get out this way to visit Minneopa State Park.\u00a0 It certainly did not disappoint.\u00a0 Views of the falls are easily accessible by concrete sidewalks in very close proximity of the parking lot.<\/p>\n

If you are feeling a wee bit more adventurous, you can descend the stone staircase to river level and make your way around to the base of the falls.\u00a0 The trail is sketchy for a ways after to cross the foot bridge, but levels out nicely closer to the falls.\u00a0 The views are worth the extra effort.<\/p>\n
