    1. Seeing this type of thing enrages me. When the snow melts I am astounded by the amount of trash along the roads in the metro. When I used to trout fish, I would collect an entire net full of trash from the stream banks as I made my way for point a to b. There is no excuse for litter.

      1. I agree 100 percent. As a teen I worked one summer for the Redwood County Highway Department. One day we picked up litter from ditches. One of my co-workers found a ripped apart love letter. During our lunch break, the four of us (all teenage girls) pieced it together. That was the highlight of our work day after bagging so much garbage.

  1. In Main Street Sinclair Lewis’ main character bemoans spring and the fact that the melting snow exposes all the dirt and garbage that had been hidden underneath it. I guss some things never change. (I love the love-letter story – seems like a nice gift for the garbage collectors.)
